What People Are Saying

Bruiser
Land Cruiser 80 Series

Betsy has been an absolute lifesaver. Whenever I need something, she's right there in the driveway, ready to help. The front bumper? Perfect fit. The differential? Dropped right in. The axle shafts? Like they were made for me (because they were). I've never had such reliable access to quality OEM parts. Highly recommend!

Michelle
Sean's Wife, Voice of Reason

When Sean told me he was buying a second Land Cruiser, I asked "So this is a parts truck, right?" He got all defensive and spent 20 minutes explaining his "two truck strategy." I just smiled and nodded. I've been married to him long enough to know. The day Betsy arrived, I gave her six months before she was stripped. I was being generous — it took three weeks. Every time Sean comes in from the garage saying he "just needs to borrow one thing from Betsy," I don't even look up anymore. Betsy has always been a parts donor vehicle. Everyone knew it except Sean.

Sean
Owner, Bruiser & "Definitely Not Parts Vehicle" Betsy

I want to be clear that this is NOT a parts website and Betsy is NOT a parts vehicle. That said, having matching OEM parts readily available when Bruiser needs unexpected maintenance has proven... practical. The parts are high quality because they're from another 80 Series. But again, this is temporary. All parts will be returned or replaced. Eventually. Probably. Michelle keeps saying "I told you so" but she doesn't understand the complexity of maintaining two vehicles.

Mike
Friend who helped with "that one repair"

I was there when Sean bought Betsy. He talked for 45 minutes about his "two truck strategy" and how Betsy would "handle all the hard work." Three weeks later I helped him swap the bumpers. I didn't say anything, but we both knew. We both knew.

Betsy
Land Cruiser 80 Series (Former)

When I was purchased, Sean said I would be a "working truck" and go on "adventures." Instead, I've been parked in the same spot for months while being systematically disassembled. Every time Bruiser has an incident, I lose another part. First my tailgate when Sean backed Bruiser into a tree. Then my birfield joints, over and over again. Most recently, my entire driver's side door after Bruiser rolled onto its side. I now have Bruiser's dented door — a badge of shame I never earned. At this point I'm pretty sure I'm 40% of Bruiser.

Jake
Trail Buddy, witnessed the roll-over

I was there when Bruiser ended up on its driver's side. The door was completely dented and the mirror was destroyed. Sean's first words after we got Bruiser upright? "Well, at least Betsy has a good door." Not "Is everyone okay?" or "That was close." Just immediately thinking about his parts truck. Three days later I see him driving Bruiser with what looks like a fresh door. I texted him "Betsy's door?" He replied with just a shrug emoji.

Dave
Local Mechanic

Sean brings Bruiser in for work every few months. Each time, I notice a "new" part that looks suspiciously like it came from another 80 Series. First it was the tailgate after that tree incident. Then I started noticing birfield joints showing up. Most recently, an entire door assembly. When I mention it, he launches into this elaborate explanation about "temporary swapping" and "maintenance optimization." I've been a mechanic for 30 years. I know a parts truck when I see one. But Sean's a good customer, so I just nod and say "interesting approach."

Next Door Neighbor

There's been a Land Cruiser sitting in Sean's driveway for six months that seems to be missing more parts every week. At first it had a bumper, then it didn't. It had doors, now they look different. Pretty sure it's sinking lower each month. Sean keeps insisting it's "not abandoned" and will be "fixed up soon." The HOA is monitoring the situation.

Online Parts Retailer

Sean used to be one of our best customers, regularly ordering replacement parts for Bruiser. Then he bought a second 80 Series and suddenly stopped placing orders. We're pretty sure we know why. This is bad for our business but we respect the efficiency. We just wish he'd admit it.

Betsy's Engine Block
1FZ-FE 4.5L Inline-6

I'm one of the few original major components still in Betsy. I've watched all my friends leave — the bumper, the differential, the fuel pump, the radiator. They all said they'd come back. None of them have. Sean walks by sometimes and looks at me with this expression that I can only describe as "measuring." I heard Bruiser's engine made a weird noise last week. I'm scared.
